Terms of service

Terms of Service

Last updated: 16 September 2026

These Terms of Service explain the terms that apply when you visit our website or purchase products from North & Alder.

Please read these terms carefully before placing an order. If you do not understand any part of these terms, contact us before completing your purchase.

These terms do not affect your statutory rights under UK consumer law.

1. About North & Alder

This website is operated under the trading name North & Alder.

Throughout these terms, “North & Alder”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the operator of this website. “You” and “your” refer to the person visiting the website or purchasing from us.

Our contact details are:

North & Alder
86–90 Paul Street
London
EC2A 4NE
United Kingdom

Email: contact@northalder.store
Telephone: +44 20 7946 0551

2. Application of These Terms

These terms apply to:

  • Your use of our website

  • Orders placed through our website

  • Products purchased from North & Alder

  • Communications and services relating to those orders

Other policies forming part of these terms include our:

  • Privacy Policy

  • Shipping Policy

  • Returns & Refund Policy

  • Cookie Policy, where available

If there is a conflict between these Terms of Service and a product-specific term clearly presented before purchase, the product-specific term will apply to that particular purchase.

3. Eligibility to Purchase

To place an order, you must have the legal capacity to enter into a contract.

If you are under 18, you should only use the website and place an order with the involvement and permission of a parent or legal guardian.

You must provide accurate, current and complete information during checkout.

4. Products

We make reasonable efforts to describe and display our products accurately, including their:

  • Design

  • Colour

  • Material, where confirmed

  • Size

  • Features

  • Price

  • Availability

Images are provided to help illustrate the product. Colours may appear slightly different depending on lighting, photography, screen settings and device type.

Minor variations that do not materially change the product may occur. Nothing in this section limits your rights if a product is faulty, materially different from its description or not as shown.

Please review the product description and size guide before ordering.

5. Product Availability

All products are subject to availability.

Adding an item to your basket does not reserve it. An item may become unavailable before checkout or before the order is accepted.

If a product becomes unavailable after payment, we will contact you and offer:

  • An appropriate alternative, which you may decline

  • A refund for the unavailable product

  • A refund for the complete order where appropriate

We will not send a substitute product without your agreement.

6. Placing an Order

When you place an order, you are making an offer to purchase the products in your basket.

After checkout, we will normally send an order confirmation email. This confirms that we have received your order but does not necessarily mean that the order has been accepted.

A contract is formed when we send a dispatch confirmation or otherwise confirm that the order has been accepted.

Please check your order confirmation and contact us immediately if any information is incorrect.

7. Refusing or Cancelling an Order

We may refuse or cancel an order for a legitimate reason, including where:

  • The product is unavailable

  • Payment is not authorised

  • We reasonably suspect fraud or misuse

  • There is an obvious and genuine pricing error

  • Delivery cannot be completed to the address provided

  • The order breaches these terms or applicable law

We will explain the reason where reasonably possible.

If payment has already been taken for a cancelled order, we will issue a refund to the original payment method without undue delay.

Nothing in this section allows us to cancel an accepted order unfairly or without a legitimate reason.

8. Prices

Product prices are displayed in pounds sterling unless otherwise stated.

Prices include applicable taxes where required. Any additional charge will be clearly displayed before you complete the order.

We may change prices at any time, but changes will not affect orders that have already been accepted.

9. Pricing Errors

We take reasonable care to ensure that prices are accurate.

If an obvious pricing error is discovered before an order is accepted, we may contact you to:

  • Confirm whether you wish to purchase at the correct price

  • Cancel the affected item or order and issue a refund

We will not change the price of an accepted order unless required by law or agreed with you.

10. Promotions and Discounts

Promotions, discount codes and sale offers may be subject to additional conditions displayed with the offer.

Unless otherwise stated:

  • Promotions cannot be exchanged for cash

  • Discount codes cannot be combined

  • Promotions apply only during the stated period

  • Promotions are subject to product availability

  • A discount must be entered before checkout is completed

  • Promotional terms do not remove statutory consumer rights

Reference prices, crossed-out prices and percentage discounts are intended to represent genuine price comparisons in accordance with applicable UK advertising and consumer law.

We may withdraw or correct a promotion where there is a genuine error, fraud or misuse, provided this does not unfairly affect an order already accepted.

11. Payment

Available payment methods will be displayed during checkout.

By submitting payment information, you confirm that:

  • The information is accurate

  • You are authorised to use the selected payment method

  • Sufficient funds or credit are available

Payments are processed by third-party payment providers. Their own terms and privacy policies may also apply.

We do not normally receive or store complete payment card details.

12. Delivery

We currently deliver to eligible addresses within the United Kingdom.

Standard UK shipping is free. Our estimated delivery time is 5–8 working days from order confirmation, unless a different estimate is clearly stated before purchase.

Delivery times may be affected by circumstances outside our reasonable control. We will provide updates where a significant delay becomes known.

Full delivery information is available in our Shipping Policy.

13. Delivery Address

You are responsible for providing a complete and accurate delivery address.

Contact us immediately if an address needs to be changed. We cannot guarantee that changes can be made after an order has entered processing or been dispatched.

If an order is returned because an incorrect or incomplete address was supplied, we may recover reasonable redelivery or return costs where permitted by law.

14. Responsibility for the Products

We remain responsible for the products until they are delivered into your physical possession or the possession of a person identified by you to receive them.

If you independently appoint a carrier that was not offered by us, responsibility may pass when the products are handed to that carrier, as permitted by law.

15. Your Right to Cancel

Customers purchasing online in the United Kingdom normally have the legal right to cancel eligible orders within 14 days of receiving them, without providing a reason.

After notifying us of the cancellation, you normally have a further 14 days to return the products.

In addition to these statutory rights, North & Alder offers a voluntary 30-day return period, subject to the conditions in our Returns & Refund Policy.

Certain products may be excluded from change-of-mind returns where permitted by law, including personalised items and sealed products that cannot be returned for health or hygiene reasons after being unsealed.

These exclusions do not limit your rights in relation to faulty, damaged or incorrectly described products.

16. Returns and Refunds

To request a return, email contact@northalder.store before sending the product.

Returns must follow the process described in our Returns & Refund Policy.

Where you return a product because you changed your mind, you will normally be responsible for the return postage cost.

Where a product is faulty, damaged, incorrectly described or different from the item ordered, we will cover reasonable return costs as required by law.

Approved refunds will be issued to the original payment method. Further information is available in our Returns & Refund Policy.

17. Faulty or Misdescribed Products

Under UK consumer law, products must be:

  • Of satisfactory quality

  • Fit for their intended purpose

  • As described

  • Installed correctly where installation forms part of the contract

If a product does not meet these standards, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, price reduction or refund.

Customers normally have a short-term right to reject faulty goods within 30 days of receiving them.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or replaces your statutory rights.

18. Product Care and Use

You should follow any care, washing, storage or safety instructions supplied with a product.

We are not responsible for damage caused solely by:

  • Misuse

  • Accidental damage after delivery

  • Failure to follow care instructions

  • Normal wear and tear

  • Unauthorised alterations

This does not limit our responsibility for products that were faulty or not as described when supplied.

19. Customer Accounts

Where customer accounts are available, you are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate information

  • Keeping login details confidential

  • Preventing unauthorised account access

  • Informing us if you suspect that your account has been compromised

We may suspend or restrict an account where reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, security risks or a material breach of these terms.

20. Permitted Use of the Website

You may use the website for lawful personal shopping and information purposes.

You must not:

  • Use the website for unlawful or fraudulent purposes

  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems

  • Introduce viruses, malware or harmful code

  • Interfere with website security or operation

  • Scrape or extract data without permission

  • Impersonate another person

  • Submit false payment, identity or contact information

  • Infringe intellectual property or privacy rights

  • Use the website in a way that harms other users

We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect our customers, website or legal rights.

21. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, the website and its content are owned by or licensed to North & Alder.

This includes:

  • Brand names

  • Logos

  • Product photographs

  • Graphics

  • Website design

  • Written content

  • Videos

  • Layout and visual elements

You may view and use the website for personal, non-commercial purposes.

You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, publish, sell or commercially exploit protected content without prior written permission, except where allowed by law.

22. Reviews and Submitted Content

If you submit a genuine review, photograph, comment or other content, you confirm that:

  • You created it or have permission to submit it

  • It is truthful and relates to your genuine experience

  • It does not infringe another person’s rights

  • It is not unlawful, abusive, misleading or defamatory

You retain ownership of your content.

By submitting content for publication, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display and use it in connection with our website and business, subject to applicable privacy and consumer protection law.

We may moderate or remove content for legitimate reasons, including where it is unlawful, irrelevant, fraudulent or infringes another person’s rights. We will not selectively suppress genuine reviews merely because they are negative.

23. Third-Party Services and Links

Our website may contain links to or integrations with third-party services, including payment, delivery, social media and ecommerce providers.

Third-party websites are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

We are not responsible for independent third-party content or services that are outside our reasonable control. This does not exclude responsibility where the third party acts on our behalf in fulfilling our obligations to you.

24. Website Availability

We aim to keep the website available and accurate but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access at all times.

We may temporarily restrict access for:

  • Maintenance

  • Security updates

  • Technical problems

  • Events outside our reasonable control

Where possible, we will take reasonable steps to restore access promptly.

25. Events Outside Our Reasonable Control

We are not responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control, provided that we take reasonable steps to minimise the effect and notify affected customers where appropriate.

Such events may include severe weather, transport disruption, postal interruption, internet or infrastructure failure and government restrictions.

If a delay becomes substantial, you may have the right to cancel the affected order and receive a refund. Your statutory rights remain unaffected.

26. Our Responsibility to You

We are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of these terms or failure to use reasonable care and skill.

We are not responsible for loss that:

  • Was not foreseeable when the contract was formed

  • Was caused solely by inaccurate information supplied by you

  • Results from use of products for an unauthorised commercial purpose

We do not exclude or limit responsibility where doing so would be unlawful, including responsibility for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by negligence

  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation

  • Faulty or misdescribed goods

  • Breach of statutory consumer rights

  • Any matter that cannot legally be excluded

Products sold through our website are intended primarily for personal and domestic use.

27. Privacy

Our handling of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.

By using the website, you acknowledge that personal information will be processed as necessary to operate the website, manage orders, provide support and meet legal obligations.

Where consent is required for marketing or non-essential cookies, it will be requested separately.

28. Ending or Restricting Website Access

We may suspend or restrict access to the website where you materially breach these terms, misuse the website or create a genuine security or fraud risk.

Where appropriate, we will provide notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue.

Termination of website access does not remove rights or obligations relating to orders already accepted unless those orders are lawfully cancelled.

29. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms to reflect changes in:

  • Our services

  • Website functionality

  • Business practices

  • Applicable law

Updated terms will be published on this page with a revised date.

Changes will not unfairly alter an order or contract that has already been accepted. The terms in force when your order was accepted will normally continue to apply to that order.

30. Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.

The affected provision will be interpreted or adjusted only to the extent necessary to make it lawful and enforceable.

31. No Waiver

If we do not immediately enforce a right under these terms, this does not mean that we have waived that right.

Any waiver applies only to the specific circumstances in which it was given.

32. Transfer of Rights

You may not transfer your rights or obligations under a purchase contract without our written agreement, except where the law permits.

We may transfer our rights or obligations to another organisation where this does not reduce your rights or materially disadvantage you. We will notify you where required.

33. Governing Law and Courts

These terms and contracts with North & Alder are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you retain the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections applicable where you live and may bring proceedings in your local courts where the law allows.

Customers living in England or Wales may bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales.

Nothing in this section limits any mandatory legal rights relating to jurisdiction or applicable law.
